The Housing Register
We only allocate around 1,000 properties each year so we cannot offer a council home to most people who apply.
To make sure you qualify to join our housing register, we would like you to answer a few questions first.
Are you aged 16 years old or over?If you are under 16 years old you are not eligible to join Camden's Housing Register because you cannot legally hold a tenancy. If you need further advice please contact Camden’s Social Services department on 0207 974 4444.
Do you have the right to live in the UK and are not subject to immigration restrictions that limit your access to public funds?
Council housing is a public resource. If you are subject to immigration control you are not eligible for Camden’s Housing Register. For advice about immigration status visit No Recourse to Public Funds Network.
Have you lived in Camden for 5 out of the last 7 years, or do you meet any of the exemption criteria available here?
You must have lived in Camden for at least 5 out of the last 7 years to join Camden’s Housing Register. For further information and exceptions visit Housing Allocations frequently asked questions. If you meet one of the exceptions please answer 'Yes' to this question.
Do you have household savings or financial assets over £32,000?
If you have assets in excess of £32,000 either in savings or invested, including property assets, you do not qualify to join Camden’s Housing Register. Some exemptions do apply. Do you pay rent and are more than 10 weeks behind with your payments?
If you have significant rent arrears which have not been cleared or reduced to a period of ten weeks or less at the time of your application you cannot apply to be included on the housing register. Do you need to move for any of these reasons?
If you do not have a significant need to move you are not likely to be eligible to join Camden's Housing Register. For further information visit Housing Allocation Scheme as some exemptions do apply.
